Secretary of State John Kerry announced the release of the 2015 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices ("the Human Rights Reports") on April 13. The annual reports cover internationally recognized civil, political, and worker rights, reflecting those set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, international agreements, and elsewhere. These Congressionally mandated reports chronicle human rights conditions in almost 200 countries and territories around the world. The reports draw attention to challenges facing individuals and organizations where governments fall short of their obligations to uphold universal human rights. This year's Country Report for Thailand points out continuing limitations on civil and political liberties, abuses in the context of the continuing insurgency in the three southernmost provinces, and other human rights challenges.
