ดร.จารุวงศ์ เรืองสุวรรณ ประกาศจุดยืนองค์การเสรีไทยฯ ณ มหาวิทยาลัยฮาร์วาร์ด 6 มีนาคม 2558

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Thank you Harvard University and all the organizers from the Thai Studies Program at the Harvard University Asia Center for allowing me to represent the suppressed voices of millions of pro-democracy dissidents both in Thailand and around the world. The Organization of FreeThais for Human Rights and Democracy (OFHD) was established on June 24, 2014 to be a center for efforts to inform the world of the facts and truths about the undemocratic and rights abusive acts committed by the military regime that has long served the minority elites.  OFHD’s goal is also to seek peaceful solutions among Thais of different political views based on the internationally accepted democracy principles, respect for human rights, and non-violence means.

OFHD never intends to be the enemy of our brothers and sisters anywhere.  We never aims at using forces to topple the dictatorial regime and the elite networks, but we believe that most Thais must be adequately knowledgeable about the structural problems that all Thais are facing, the multiple causes, and the shared responsibilities among them all to find solutions and to collectively create a better regime that benefits the Thai citizens of all walks of life  more equally. Dialogues in which all voices are shared, as Harvard has graciously initiated for us today, are crucial for the success that Thailand needs.

Lastly, may I emphasize the importance of help from our international friends?  What Harvard is doing today is a great example for our friends in the academia.  I am hoping that more universities and organizations will care to listen to more of what we, as representatives of unfortunate Thais, will have to say in the near future.  We need your help.

Thank you,
